Job description:

Oncology Diagnostic Programme Manager – Pharmaceuticals – Dublin – December 2017 – Immediate Vacancy

Our client, a major pharmaceutical company who’s vision in Oncology is to help patients by redefining the cancer-treatment paradigm, with the aim of bringing 4 new cancer medicines to patients between 2017 and 2021. A broad pipeline of next-generation medicines is focused principally on four disease areas - breast, ovarian, lung and hematological cancers. As well as other tumor types, these are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, the genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

They are now looking to recruit a Diagnostics Programme Manager to join their team in a commercial capacity. The position is a full time permanent role. The key to the role is to develop diagnostic strategy that will link diagnostic testing to the best treatment option for clinicians for their patients. Ideally, they are looking to recruit an individual who is working at the forefront of a commercial diagnostic testing company in the Oncology area to maximise the link between patient testing with clinicians to provide the best drug treatment options. 80 % of the role will be field based.

As a Diagnostics Programme Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in channeling our clients scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives. The Diagnostics Programme Manager will initiate and execute an oncology diagnostic strategy for their current and future products and execute tactics that support optimal in-market companion diagnostics / testing solutions that enable optimal treatment throughout the patient journey and that support patient access.  The Diagnostics Programme Manager will assess and identify issues in the current testing landscape and will work to develop solutions that remove or minimize diagnostic barriers to therapy use, e.g., by optimizing testing pathways, monitoring the diagnostic testing competitive environment and market trends.  The Diagnostic Programme Manager will develop deep insights into the patient pathways that may lead to the development of patient support programs that reinforce the value of our clients established and new oncology drugs.

A significant component of the Oncology Diagnostics Programme Manager role will be to cultivate and build relationships with external key stakeholders and identify partnerships that support patient, HCP (Healthcare Providers) and our clients’ needs.  While the position will require engagement with customers in the 8 Centres of Excellence, the majority of customer-facing activity is likely to be in the greater Dublin area.  In addition, as part of the local Oncology Business Team, the Oncology Diagnostic Programme Manager will work with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs and Market Access to identify and contribute to overall Oncology business planning and execution.

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Four or more years of pharmaceutical and/or diagnostics industry experience
  • Strong understanding of the latest Irish Oncology environment, stakeholders and diagnostic & clinical pathways.
  • Excellent strategic vision and sales success
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills and ability to work in and contribute to a high performing cross-functional team
  • Excellent project and commercial management skills to define, plan and execute diagnostic programs in multiple settings that will link diagnostic testing to drug treatment plans for patients.

  • Advanced degree in business, life sciences, medical or pharmacy degree

  • Strong sales success

  • Launch experience of a diagnostic, therapeutic, or device

  • Understanding of test sample journey, diagnostic technologies and possible technical challenges

An excellent salary (circa 75-85k), plus bonus, company car and very strong benefits package will apply to the position.
